Motorcycle Oil Demand to Grow

Global demand for motorcycle oil is set to grow at a compound annual rate of 3.5 percent to almost 1.8 million metric tons by 2022, largely due to Asia-Pacific’s healthy two-wheeler market, according to a Kline & Co. presentation last week. read more

Briefly Noted

ExxonMobil completed its acquisition of PT Federal Karyatama, one of Indonesia’s largest manufacturers and marketers of motorcycle lubricants, from PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk. and its affiliate. Announced in April, the acquisition includes the Federal Oil brand and a new blending plant in Cilegon.  Spain-based Repsol said in a recent update to its 2016-2020 Strategic Plan that it will expand its lubricants business’ international presence, including in Asia. The company started producing lubricants in 2011 at a plant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, following an agreement with UMW, and Repsol also produces and distributes in other Asian regions such as China and Singapore.
