SN Plus First Use Set for May 1

The American Petroleum Institute advised yesterday that May 1 will be the first licensing date for API SN Plus, the supplemental classification for passenger car motor oils.

U.S. Finished Lube Price Hikes Continue

Chevron and Total each notified customers of general price increases on finished lubricants taking effect in early May and late April, citing increases in raw material costs. Chevron will increase prices by up to 10 percent on its lubricating oils and greases effective May 7. Total will raise prices by 3 to 5 percent on its branded lubricant products effective April. 30.

Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. reported revised fourth quarter and year end 2017 results on Monday. The revised earnings included an $83.6 million net loss for the fourth quarter, compared to a $79.6 million net loss in 2016s fourth quarter; and a $103.8 million net loss for 2017, compared to a $328.6 million net loss for 2016.Gen III Oil Corp. selected PLC Industrial Management Inc. as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the Vancouver-based companys Bowden, Alberta rerefinery project.
