Clariant, Huntsman Agree to Merge

Two chemical specialty giants – Clariant and Huntsman Corp. – have reached a definitive agreement to merge, the companies announced Monday. Lukoils lubricant branch in Eastern Europe posted improved sales results, and the company continues to expand its global reach. Ploiesti, Romania-based Lukoil Lubricants East Europe is a regional subsidiary of LLK International, lube arm of Russian oil major Lukoil. Canton Fuels Hydrodec Rebound

Transformer oil rerefiner Hydrodec posted a $7.8 million loss for 2016 – including losses associated with its United Kingdom recycling operations that the company disposed of in March 2016 – an improvement from a $31.1 million loss for 2016. Russian Coolants Maker Expands in Lubes

While most of Russian manufacturer Obninskorgsintezs production consists of antifreeze and car cleaning products, its growing lubricants business is now ranked one of the top five in Russia. The 325,000 tons of fluid products that the company made in 2016 included about 220,000 tons of antifreeze and car cleaning products. However, the company is growing its lubricants business. Lubrizol Changes Senior Management

Lubrizol Corp. will make several changes to its senior corporate management, effective June 1. Bob Graf, vice president of research and development, will assume the newly created position of vice president of data science and analytics. Julie Edgar will take over Grafs role, and will also serve as chief sustainability officer. The company also named Tesham Gor vice president for corporate strategy and consumer insights. In addition, vice president for engine oils Tom Curtis will be appointed senior vice president and president of Lubrizol Additives, effective Nov. 1. He replaces Dan Sheets, who will retire at the end of this year after 33 years with the Wickliffe, Ohio-based company.
