Nynas Naphthenics said it plans to increase storage capacity at its hub in Antwerp, Belgium by 20 percent in response to increased demand for tire oils and its recently introduced Nova Grades transformer oils. Earlier this year Nynas opened a depot in Kotka, southeast Finland, with storage for 4,500 cubic meters of transformer oils and base oils.
In its latest Naphthenics magazine, the company said that in parallel with the investment in the bigger storage facilities in Antwerp, it will also increase the number of transfer lines, giving Nynas both greater blending capacity and flexibility. The capacity will increase from 75,000 to 90,000 cubic meters. It also plans to increase loading capacity for trucks. These changes will enable Nynas to load and supply its products even faster than before, the company said.
The Kotka depot, in southeast Finland, has three tanks, each with a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters. The location is close to the countrys border with Russia. Nynas transports most of the products from Kotka by rail.
In the magazine, the company said that while the depot will complement the Nynas depot in Tallinn, Estonia, it will also have products that are not available through Tallinn.
The new depot will enable us to deliver faster and more efficiently, and provide a higher level of service to the growing markets in Russia, the Ukraine and other East European countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union, said Niklas Persson, who is responsible for depots within Naphthenics Supply Chain Department.
The company rents the tanks from German independent storage company Oiltanking GmbH.
Nynas refinery in Nynashamn, Sweden, produces 7,800 barrels per day of naphthenic base oils.
