Cam2 International purchased a Vicksburg, Miss., blending and packaging plant from Shell that will produce over 100 million gallons of finished lubricants per year and serve as its new corporate headquarters.
Without disclosing costs, the Golden, Colo.-based lubricants manufacturer announced Monday that it purchased the 93,000 square feet facility – situated on 19 acres with access to the Mississippi River – as a geographically strategic move. After careful consideration, our team concluded that Vicksburg and its port facilities were a perfect fit for a growing Cam2, providing us with low cost freight access to the nearby sources of many of our raw materials, the companys president, Walter Tyson, said in a May 5 press release.
The site will serve as Cam2s mainstay for blending and packaging operations in the Southwest United States. Its location on the Mississippi river will allow for shipping and receiving via marine barge, rail or truck. The site also includes a testing center, warehouse and distribution facility, which will allow for all operations to be contained within one facility, which will enhance the effectiveness and productivity of our operations.
The company said it will continue to primarily manufacture and distribute its Cam2 brand, but will also surpass the needs of [its] private label customers.
Cam2 recently sold its Golden State Lubricant Works blending plant in Bakersfield, Calif., but will continue to operate its other blending and manufacturing facility, located in Hammond, Ind. It also has distributors throughout the U.S. and in numerous countries. The company provides automotive, commercial and industrial lubricants in bulk and packaged form and its portfolio includes products such as brake fluids, power steering fluids, greases and gear oils, aerosol and liquid pour chemicals, antifreeze and washer fluid.
