API Adopts New Symbol for Heavy-duty Oil

The American Petroleum Institute announced last week the introduction of a trademarked special service symbol to help consumers identify the recently approved API FA-4 diesel engine oil, which is designed to protect the next generation of diesel engines. Delfin USA Sues its Former President

Delfin Group USA last week sued its former president, Markos Baghdasarian, for $4.2 million in damages related to his 2012 conviction of unlawfully exporting lubricants from the United States to Iran. The suit, filed on May 18 in the Atlanta division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, alleges that Baghdasarian acted against Delfins interest while he was president and that the company sustained damages as a result. Shreveport Refinery Accident Results in Worker Death

Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. confirmed a worker at its Shreveport, La., facility died from injuries suffered in an incident at the site last Friday morning. The employee, whose identity has not been released to the public, sustained serious injuries while working on site this morning, the company said May 20 in an emailed statement. Uz-Pristas Rerefinery Kicks Off

The Uz-Prista Recycling joint venture opened its first base oil rerefinery in Uzbekistan last week during a ceremony attended by company and government officials in the capital of Tashkent. The $19 million investment has a waste oils throughput capacity of 40,000 metric tons per year, a change from the previously announced 43,000 tons, and can produce 30,000 tons of Group I base oils, 6,000 tons of diesel and 4,000 tons of asphalt fraction annually.
