Lubricant demand in the United States is projected to increase 0.3 percent annually to 2.4 billion gallons by 2020, according to a new study by Freedonia Group. Gazproms Lube, Base Oil Sales Soared in 2015

Gazpromneft-Lubricants combined sales of base oils and lubricants rose by 11 percent to 528,000 tons in 2015, driven by increased domestic and foreign marketing of its finished products, the company said. Last year we sold 351,000 tons of finished products and 177,000 tons of base oils, Gazpromneft-Lubricants told Lube Report. Q1 Earnings Wrap-Up

Profits were up for Valvoline, BPs lubricants business, SK Lubricants and S-Oils base oil business for the quarter ending March 31, compared to the year-earlier quarter. State Seeks Input on Law Banning Obsolete Lubes

The California Department of Food and Agriculture will hold a workshop May 12 to provide stakeholders an opportunity to comment on Assembly Bill 808, a law that went into effect Jan. 1 and prohibits the sale of engine oils and lubricants considered obsolete by American Petroleum Institute standards. Russian oil major Lukoil held an opening ceremony yesterday for a new bulk lubricant storage and transfer terminal on the bank of the Danube River at its blending plant in Vienna, Austria. Valtris Specialty Chemicals acquired Akcros Holdings Ltd. Both U.S.-based companies supply specialty chemicals such as additives and intermediates used in and as lubricants. Eastman Aviation Solutions was selected as the main engine oil supplier for the conversion and modernization of Hong Kong-based global carrier Cathay Pacific Airways fleet of approximately 150 aircraft.
