Master Fluid Solutions Opens Turkish MWF Plant

Master Fluid Solutions opened a metalworking fluids production facility outside of Istanbul in Tulza, mainly serving the aerospace and defense industries, the company announced last month.

The company also has product lines for industrial and automotive applications, among others. Growing demand for the Master Fluid Solutions coolants in these industries, together with the increasing popularity of its fluids in automotive and white goods production, has resulted in the company taking the decisive step to manufacture key products locally, Perrysburg, Ohio-based Master Fluid said in a press release issued Nov. 11.

Master Fluids aerospace fluids are primarily for machining and grinding applications for an aircrafts airframe components or engine components, David Barned, global vice president for operations and supply chain, told Lube Report. The company has approvals with Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and other major aerospace manufacturers. Master Fluids products are used by subcontractors who manufacture the components for those companies, explained Barned.

This supports our strategic initiative to make sure that we have operations close to our global customers around the world, he said.

The company did not disclose the cost or production capacity of the facility, nor the names of its customers in Turkey. Peten Endustriyel Urunler Pazarlama, Master Fluids Turkish distributor, will operate the facility.

Manufacturing our products in Turkey made sound commercial sense, said Peter Blenkinsop, Master Fluids director of sales for Europe. Primarily we wanted to reduce lead time for our Turkish customers and eliminate the danger of importation delays.
