EU New Car CO2 Emissions Trend Upwards

Average carbon dioxide emissions by new cars in the European Union grew 1.8 percent in 2018 – the second consecutive year of growth after a steady decline between 2007 and 2016, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. read more

Energy Demand Forecast to Fall in Europe

Energy demand will decrease 11 percent in Europe and 5 percent in Russia and the Caspian region between 2017 and 2040, according to a new forecast by ExxonMobil. At the same time, the study predicts increases of 37 and 32 percent, respectively, in Africa and the Middle East. read more

Chemical distribution company Brenntag plans to convert its legal form from a German stock corporation into a European company, Brenntag SE, which will remain headquartered in Essen, Germany, and continue to be managed on a dualistic basis by its management board and supervisory board.  The United States Federal Trade Commission approved a final order requiring Quaker Chemical to sell Houghton International’s North American aluminum hot rolling oil and steel cold rolling oil product lines to French oil major Total as a condition of Quaker Chemical’s $1.4 billion merger with Houghton.
