Fuchs: Lube Demand Could Give Way

Global lubricant demand reached 35.7 million metric tons in 2017, neck-and-neck with the year before, indicates an initial tally from Fuchs Petrolub SE. Perhaps 900,000 tons or more of that could evaporate in the coming decade, however, due to electric vehicles and other disruptive technologies, a company executive warned.

ATIEL, the Technical Association of the European Lubricants Industry, appointed Marco Digioia as its new president, following Peter Tjans retirement at the end of last year. Digioia is a Brussels-based transport industry expert who formally worked as director for government affairs at Cruise Lines International Association. Turkeys marine lubricants market revenue is exhibiting significant growth, and is expected in increase at a compound annual rate of almost 3.5 percent between 2014 and 2022, according to Transparency Market Research.
