Uzbekistan to Add Group II, III Capacity

Uzbekistan plans to overhaul its obsolete refining capacity to produce API Group II and Group III base oils so that the countrys lube marketers dont need to import them to compete with foreign lubricant makers, according to an industry insider.

Oxea to Expand Carboxylic Acid Production

Oxea GmbH said last week that it plans to expand its production of carboxylic acids due to growing demand in refrigeration lubricants as well as other applications.

UK Additives Firm Opens Plant

Lubricant additives supplier SBZ Corp. opened a manufacturing facility and laboratory in Wickford, United Kingdom, to accommodate growing demand from blenders doing business in international markets.

Lanxess named Jacquez Perez as its new country representative in the United Kingdom and managing director of Lanxess Holding UK effective Oct. 1. He previously held positions at Lanxess India of vice chairman and managing director plus chief financial officer and chief compliance officer. Agilent Technologies and Grabner Instruments entered into an equipment manufacturing agreement. Austria-based Grabner will perform in-field lube and grease analysis using Agilents Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy system.
