Electric vehicles will have only limited impact on passenger car motor oil demand through 2025 but will cost a group of 15 leading markets more than a million tons per year in combined demand volumes by 2040, according to a forecast by Kline & Co.

When Bosch Rexroth adopted its Fluid Rating 90235 standard for hydraulic fluids in 2015, it significantly raised the performance bar for fluid formulators. Now the German equipment manufacturer is trying to make things a bit easier by developing a tribometer test that would be a shortcut for determining if a fluid is good enough.

Oxea, a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and derivatives used in lubricants, plans to shut down production at its Oberhausen, Germany, facility for roughly four weeks for a regular statutory planned turnaround.
