SK, Repsol to Expand Cartagena Plant

SK Lubricants and Repsol have decided to expand their joint venture base oil plant in Cartagena, Spain, SK officials confirmed yesterday. The project will increase capacity of the facility by 200,000 metric tons per year, according to SK.

Foreigners Localize More Production in Russia

End user perceptions of differences in the quality of Russian and foreign-branded motor oil are narrowing, and the manufacturers of foreign brands have ramped up output within the country, lowering prices for mass market lubes, a consultancy found.

Steeper Loss, Higher Revenue for Hydrodec in 2018

London-based transformer oil rerefiner Hydrodec posted a $13.7 million overall loss for 2018, compared to a $4.3 million loss in 2017. However, it reported higher full-year revenue at $14.9 million, up 10.5 percent from $13.4 million in 2017.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants signed an agreement with Vyborg Shipyard, a shipbuilding company in Vyborg, Russia, to supply marine lubricants to the first non-nuclear icebreaker, “Ob.”
