BASF Adds Antioxidant Supply in China

Feiya Chemical Co. has opened a factory in China’s Jiangsu province to produce lubricant antioxidants on behalf of BASF. The plant was built under a technology licensing and manufacturing agreement aimed at helping BASF to meet growing demand in the local market. read more

Philippines Taxes Lubes, Raw Materials

The Philippines’ Bureau of Customs implemented a second tranche of its Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law, taxing a number of products, including lubricating oils and greases, along with base stocks and lubricant additives. read more

Briefly Noted

Shell Lubricants extended its partnership with Mahindra and Mahindra last week to distribute its new products through Mahindra's dealership network throughout India. PetroChina's Kunlun Lubricant was named the official lubricant of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics last week. 


An article in the Jan. 4 issue included data about market shares of marine lubricant suppliers, some of which were disputed by one company. Lukoil Marine Lubricants claims to supply 14 percent of global volume lubricants used by the shipping industry, which it estimates to be between 1.9 million and 2 million metric tons per year.
