Indias Base Oil Boss Changes Hands

Oil and Natural Gas Corp. yesterday purchased a controlling stake of fellow state-owned oil company Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd., Indias largest supplier of base oils.

Blender Invests in South Central China

Ji Er Run Ke, a lube blender based in Changsha, Hunan province, plans to invest 180 million (U.S. $28.4 million) in a facility in neighboring city, Miluo.

Profits Up for SK, S-Oil, Apar

Korean base oil refiners SK Lubricants and S-Oil realized increased revenue and operating profits for full year 2017 due to a wider base oil spread in 2017, while profits jumped for Indias Apars transformer and specialty oils segment during its third quarter.

The products are blended in Singapore and meet American Petroleum Institute specs. Emirati firm Gulf Petrochem rebranded to GP Global to reflect its goal of becoming a more international corporation. GP supplies Ipol lubricants in India through its subsidiary GP Petroleums Ltd. Asia-focused specialty chemicals distributor Connell Brothers signed an agreement to distribute South Korean firm Songwon Industrial Co.s fuels and lube additives, including aminic, phenolic and phosphite ranges, throughout India.
