SSY Base Oil Shipping Report

China Remains Large Base Oil Importer
November 2, 2018China is one of the worlds largest importers of base oils, and that looks unlikely to change as its finished lubricant market continues to grow. By 2021, base oil consumption in the country is forecast to exceed 8.8 million metric tons, up 11 percent from 2016, according to ICIS.
Results Dip at Castrol India, GP, Hi-Tech
November 2, 2018Castrol India Ltd. posted a double-digit drop in profit for the quarter ended Sept. 30, while Apar Industries Ltd. reported higher revenue for its transformer and specialty oils division. GP Petroleums Ltd. and Pakistans Hi-Tech Lubricants Ltd. both reported worse results than the same period of last year.
Wells Opens Blend Plant in Tianjin
November 2, 2018Wells Lubricating Oil (Tianjin) Co. announced that it opened a blending plant in Tianjin, China, to support its growing business. The company said it now has capacity to make 150,000 metric tons of lubricants per year.
