Lihon Opens Second Blend Plant

Daqing, Heilongjiang province-based Lihon Lubricant opened its second production base earlier this month to double its lube blending capacity to 200,000 metric tons per year, according to an announcement last week.

Lihons new plant in the Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone has capacity to produce 100,000 t/y of lubes, 10,000t t/y of coolants and 5,000 t/y of related lubricant products. The location has storage capacity of around 30,000 tons and covers an area of around 40,000 square meters.

The firms existing factory in Daqing can produce 100,000 t/y of motor oils, industrial lubricants and greases. Lihons portfolio includes fully synthetic oils, thermal conduction oils, cylinder oils, thread-sealing oils and more.

Lihon held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant in August 2016. At that time, the company set a target opening date of June 2017 and projected a cost of around 90 million (U.S. $13.5 million). Its website currently indicates the plant cost around 200 million.
