Afton Expands Test Center in Japan

Afton Chemical completed an expansion of its Japan Technology Center in Tsukuba to give it increased lubricant additive testing capabilities for the Asia-Pacific region, the company announced on Oct. 30. The expansion is part of an effort towards more collaboration with Japans original equipment manufacturers.

BP China Begins Construction of Third Plant

BP started building a lubricants blending plant in Tianjin, China, news agencies in the country recently reported. First announced in December 2017, the plant is expected to have 200,000 metric tons per year of production capacity to supply lubricants and greases to customers in north China.

Q3 Earnings Mixed in South Korea, Sri Lanka

S-Oil reported increased operating income for its base oil business, while SK Lubricants and Hyundai Shell Base Oil Co. each posted lower profit for the quarter ending Sept. 30. Chevron Lubricants Lanka Plc. and Lanka IOC each reported an increase in profit.

ExxonMobil announced the launch of its new Mobil offshore wind power service and offshore wind power service vessel at the 2019 Beijing International Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition on Oct. 22. The service and vessel use the company’s gear oils and greases that are designed for wind power equipment.
