SSY Base Oil Shipping Report

Bohui Near to Opening Group II Plant

Bohui Chemical, a fuel supplier based in Chinas Zhejiang province, will start to produce API Group II base oil in November, a company official said Sept. 19 during an industry conference in Nanjing.

Additive Volumes Forecast to Grow

Global lubricant additive demand volume will grow 0.5 percent per year from 4.6 million tons in 2018 to more than 4.8 million tons by 2023, consultancy Kline & Co. projected, slightly less than the growth projected for finished lubricants due to a sharp decline in detergents for marine lubricants.

Asian Markets Called Attractive

While Western businesses may wring their hands in frustration at the difficulties of doing business in Asia, at least one industry insider views high barriers to entry as positive.

Hi-Tech Lubricants informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange of the appointment of Ji Won Park, a nominee of SK Lubricants, as director effective Sept. 21, in place of ex-nominee Moon Seek Park. Japanese oil seal manufacturer NOK announced it will raise the price of its seal products and special lubricants for general industrial machinery by up to 10 percent for orders received in October for domestic and overseas distributors. The company cited a rise in raw material costs and personnel and logistics costs.
