Canadian Lube Market Shrinking
April 25, 2018Automotive lubricant demand in Canada is expected to fall roughly 5 percent from 390,000 metric tons in 2016 to 370,000 tons in 2021, thanks to lengthening drain intervals, the Freedonia Group predicted in a recent study.
Shell Sells Argentina Business to JV
April 25, 2018Shell announced yesterday that it agreed to sell its downstream business in Argentina to Raizen, a 50-50 joint venture with Brazilian sugar producer Cosan. The business is reportedly one of the three largest lubricant suppliers in the Argentinian market.
SN Plus Licensing Begins Next Week
April 25, 2018May 1 will be the first licensing date for API SN Plus, the supplemental classification for passenger car motor oils.

April 25, 2018RelaDyne acquired A&W Oil & Tire Co., an Augusta, Georgia-headquartered fuel and lubricant distributor that has a second facility in Waynesboro and that serves eastern Georgia and western South Carolina. Quest Resource Holding Corp., a national provider of corporate sustainability services, is introducing a used motor oil recycling program at locations across the United States for customers using Shells portfolio of motor oils. Jackson, Mississippi-based Ergon, Inc. announced its founder Leslie B. Lampton, who served as the chairman emeritus of the company, passed away April 17.
