Italmatch Forms Additives Unit

Italmatch Chemicals Group announced last week that it has formed a lubricant additives business unit in the wake of Decembers acquisition of Elco Corp. and parent company Detrex. Officials said the new unit, named Lubricant Performance Additives, will aim to expand in terms of chemicals supplied and geographic areas served.

Q4 Earnings Wrap-up

Clean Harbors Safety-Kleen segment and Heritage-Crystal Cleans oil business segment each reported higher revenue for the fourth quarter and full year 2017, while lubricant supplier Quaker Chemical posted a net loss for the fourth quarter and a steep decrease in net income for the full year.

NLGI to Award Research Grant Funds

NLGI aims to award up to $50,000 in research grant funds this year for high-level investigations into lubricating greases, and the deadline for qualified universities and researchers to apply is just around the corner: March 15.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission cleared for completion Ingevity Corp.s proposed acquisition of Georgia-Pacifics pine chemicals business, which was announced last August. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018. Wickliffe, Ohio-based Lubrizol Corp. promoted J. Brian Pitts to corporate vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Pitts succeeds Brian Valentine, who announced his decision to leave the organization later this year. Sea-Land Chemical Co.s board of directors appointed Jennifer Altstadt president of the company effective Jan. 1. Altstadt previously served as chief operating officer and director of operations and strategic planning for the past two years, and was president of Weatherchem and Libra Industries for 14 years before joining Sea-Land.
