Two More Majors Join Finished Lube Hikes List

Shell and Phillips 66 notified U.S. customers of upcoming price increases on finished lubricants that take place around mid-May.

Shell informed customers of a general price increase on up to 4 percent effective May 15, attributing it in part to increasing costs of raw materials used in production and delivery of its products.

Phillips 66 notified customers it will raise prices by 4 to 6 percent effective May 10, citing the impact of recent increases in raw material costs on its product manufacturing.

They join other price hikes that marketers informed customers about in recent weeks, including:

  • by ExxonMobil by up to 4 percent, effective May 10;
  • by Chevron, 4 percent to 6 percent, effective May 15;
  • by BP Castrol, up to 3 percent on Castrol and BP branded products, excluding industrial lubricants, effective May 1;
  • by Chemlube, by 4 to 7 percent on its Savannah product prices, effective April 20;
  • by Pinnacle Oil, 5 percent to 9 percent, effective April 18;
  • by Old World, up to 8 percent effective, April 21;
  • by Martin Lubricants, up to 4 percent, effective April 24;
  • by Cam2, up to 20 cents per gallon to 35 cents per gallon, effective on all bulk and packaged orders April 17;
  • by Smittys Supply, by 4 to 6 percent, effective April 24.
