Greif Expands in Texas

Industrial packaging supplier Greif will expand its Houston operations to include an intermediate bulk container manufacturing facility, the company announced Monday. Greif did not disclose the cost of the project, which is being undertaken to meet growing demand along the Gulf Coast.

The company said it will built the plant in an existing 100,000 square foot building and that it expects to open the IBC manufacturing facility by the second quarter of 2018.

The multi-million dollar investment will allow Greif to meet growing demand from the specialty and bulk chemical and the petroleum and lube industries.

Cheryl Caudill, marketing communications and brand manager for Greif, noted the IBCs will be made from high-density polyethylene wrapped in a steel cage, and will be offered in 275 gallon and 330 gallon sizes. The IBCs will be used to store base oils and lubricants as well as industrial and specialty chemicals.

Headquartered in Delaware, Ohio, Greif produces steel, plastic, fiber, flexible and corrugated containers, packaging accessories and containerboard, and provides blending, filling and packaging services for a number of industries. The company has packaging material production facilities in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Europe and the Americas.
