Indonesian state-owned lubricant company Pertamina Lubricants aims to grab a bigger share of the domestic market by expanding sales channels, primarily by opening new workshops for motorcycles and passenger cars.

For the domestic market, [Pertamina] plans to have 500 motorcycle and car workshops by2019, said Andria Nusa, sales and marketing director.

The workshops will be located at gas stations branded Bright Olimart, and each workshop will involve an estimated investment of 150 million Indonesian rupiah (U.S. $11,000).

We are focusing on gas stations that are company-owned and company-operated, said Arya Dwi Paramita, a Pertamina corporate secretary. [Most locations] will have nice and cozy waiting rooms and a cafe.

The workshops will help Pertamina enter the aftermarket oil change business and provide aftermarket sales for customers, as well as making it easier for customers to have a one-stop-shop fuel station experience.

Pertamina Lubricants said in a recent statement that it has successfully defended its position as the leader of Indonesias lubricants market and noted that it continues to expand to markets overseas. We are optimistic that Pertamina Lubricants will be included in the [top 20] world-class lubricants companies, said President Director Gigih Wahyu Hari Irianto.

In September,Pertamina and Toyota jointly developed a 0W-20 SN motor oil that meets ILSACs GF-5 standards. The company is also producing factory-fill engine oils for Toyota in Indonesia.
