PetroVietnam to Merge Blending Ops

Vietnams PV Oil Lube will double its production capacity in Ho Chi Minh City by upgrading its plant there and integrating relocated blending equipment from its Haiphong operations.

PV Oil Lube, a subsidiary of state-owned PetroVietnam, contracted sister company Petroleum Maintenance and Repair Corp. (PVMR) to deconstruct and move the Haiphong equipment – which can blend 15,000 metric tons of lubes per year – to its 12,000 t/y plant in Bing Chieu Industrial Park in the Thu Duc District of Ho Chi Minh City, which it will also renovate. The project will result in consolidated production capacity of 30,000 t/y.

According to a Dec. 2 press statement, PV Oil Lube will continue to produce lubricants at the plant during the renovation process, which also includes inspecting the facilitys working platform, electrical cabinets, wires and lighting, and upgrading pieces as needed.

PVMR will also install additional additive containers, combine the Haiphong blending lines with existing lines and upgrade equipment so that production can be fully automated.

The contract gives PVMR 75 days to complete the project, and the contractor said it would work holidays and weekends and allocate all workers possible to meet that schedule.

PV Oil Lube is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City. It makes and markets automotive and industrial lubricants as a subsidiary of national oil and gas firm, PetroVietnam Oil Corp.
